Board of Directors

Our board of directors is elected for up to two consecutive, three-year terms, and include current and retired employees of International Paper and it's predecessor companies.
 
Terry L. Moore, III - President

Terry joined International Paper in 1974 at the Mobile, Alabama mill working for IP's construction entity after serving in the Air Force.  He moved to the Gardner, Oregon mill where he worked with engineering to design an upgrade of the mill's paper machine.  In 1980, he went to New York City office in Human Resources to recruit engineers for IP.  In 1986, he was selected to head up the relocation of International Paper to the Memphis, Tennessee office.  In 1991, he transferred to the Folding Carton Division as Manager Business Development and Customer Satisfaction.  He moved to Supply Chain and Customer Value Management with the Converting Papers [envelope & forms] business.  He is  married for 36 years; and has three children and four grandchildren.  Contact Terry at tlmoore3@bellsouth.net.
 
 
Robin Sabala Johnson - Vice President

Robin is a native Oregonian and started with International Paper in 1978 in the Portland, Oregon office as a member of the region finance team for Wood Products & Resources.  She has held various positions with IP, including accounting supervisor, financial analyst, systems analyst, systems project coordinator, QIP trainer, sales account executive, plant manager, capital project manager, marketing services manager, supply chain manager, and change management analyst.  In addition to WP&R in Portland, she has worked in the Logging & Fiber Supply Division (Dallas, TX; Kellogg, OR), Kraft Paper & Packaging Group (Memphis, TN; Newport Beach, CA; San Jose, CA), Corporate Quality Management (Memphis, TN), Containerboard (Memphis, TN), Printing & Communications Papers (Memphis, TN), Global Supply Chain (Memphis, TN), and Industrial Packaging Human Resources (Memphis, TN).  After 31 years of service, Robin retired from IP on September 1, 2009.  Contact Robin at robinione@comcast.net.
 
 
Paul Langenus - Executive Director and Treasurer

Paul joined International Paper in 1965 following service in the US Navy.  Initially he was assigned to the Sales Training Program, then began a career in sales, sales management, general management and business management, in five different businesses, as well as several staff assignments.  He retired from the company in 2005.  He was a member of The Quarter-Century Society, Inc. Board of Director's for six years, serving three years as President.  He rejoined the Board in January 2007, and took the role as Executive Director following John J. Dillon's death in January 2007.  Contact Paul at plangenus@cox.net.
 
 
Charles E. Schmidle, Sr. - Deputy Executive Director and Secretary 

Charlie started with IP in 1964 in the New York Corporate Headquarters, beginning his career in the White Papers Group.  In 1965 he became a member of the Containerboard Division where, over the next 12 years he held various positions in finance, customer service, operations, and strategic planning.  In 1977 he joined the Corporate Distribution & Transportation Group as their Systems Manager, and two years later moved to Corporate Information Systems.  In 1982 he joined the Pulp & Paper Group as Manager of Business Systems.  He relocated to Memphis in 1987 as the Manager of Customer Service and Systems for the White Papers Group. In 1993 he became Manager of Operations Planning and Control for the Pulp & Paper Group.  From 2000 until his retirement in 2004 he held several positions in Strategic Planning, and the Edge Project in Printing and Communications Papers.  He has been married for 42 years, and has two sons and four grandchildren.  He continues to reside in Collierville, TN.  Contact Charlie at cessr@comcast.net.

 
 
Jack E. Ward, Jr. - Assistant Treasurer
Jack joined International Paper in 1971, following service in Vietnam with the
US Army and graduation from the University of Michigan.  He spent his entire
career in the Container Division in various locations and financial positions,
retiring in 2001 as Division Controller.  He has been married for 43 years and

Henry H. Bertelsen

Hank started with IP in 1968 in the New York Corporate Headquarters as a communications analyst.  He has held various Facility Management and Corporate Security positions throughout his forty year career with IP.  In 1987 Hank moved to Memphis and was part of the relocation team.  He has been a member of The Quarter-Century Society, Inc. Board of Director's since January of 2006 and retired from the company in January of 2008.  Hank has three children and two grand children and continues to reside in Germantown TN.  Contact Hank at hhbertel@comcast.net.
 
 
Frank Chirco

Frank started his career with International Paper in 1976 at the New York Corporate Office as a senior consolidations accountant in Corporate Finance.  Since then, Frank has held various accounting/finance positions in both corporate staff and business units organizations. In January 2010 he assumed his  current role as Director of Finance, Financial Policies & Controls. Prior to that, he was the Director, Internal Audit and Corporate Security for 8 years. Diane C. Meess

Diane started at Hammermilll Paper Company in 1978 as a paralegal in its Corporate Legal Department in Erie, PA.  Following IP's acquisition of Hammermill, she took a hiatus to finish law school, returning to IP in Memphis in 1991.  She worked in the Benefits Department as a consultant and manager for several years and moved to IP's Legal Department in 1997.  Diane spent her whole career in the interesting and ever changing area of benefits.  She retired as Senior Counsel - Benefits in July 2009.  Contact Diane at diane.meess@yahoo.com.

 
 
Edward R. Niederriter

Ted joined Hammermill Paper Company in 1984, which merged with International Paper Company in 1987.  He is a lawyer having earned his JD from the University of Pittsburgh and MPA from American University.  He was in private practice in Oil City, Pa. prior to joining Hammermill and served the Company in a variety of legal and business positions throughout his 26-year career.  Ted retired in 2009 as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.  He is married with three children and resides in Fort Myers, Florida.  Contact Ted at tednied@aol.com.

Stanley D. Weinrich

Stanley began his career in the Technology organization at Sterling Forest, in 1977. He then worked in the New York office in the Technology organization, and then in the newly formed corporate Energy Department. In 1985, he transferred to the Pineville Mill as Technical Services Manager. He transferred to Memphis in 1987 as Director-Statistical Quality Control in the Quality Management department. In 1990, he joined the Bleached Board business as Manager-Manufacturing Technical Services. He then worked at Anitec in Binghamton to help resolve environmental compliance issues and at Gulfport for Arizona Chemical in a similar capacity. He served as corporate EHS Manager from 1992-1998. After that, he joined the Marginal Economics group and was instrumental in developing those tools for corporate use. He later managed the Business Modeling and Optimization Services group. To conclude his career, he assumed the position of Director, Business Continuity Planning, helping to develop company strategies for disaster response and mitigation. Stanley retired from International Paper in December 2008.

Donna Wenzel

Donna started her career with International Paper in 1979 at the Corporate Research Center in Tuxedo, New York, as a member of the Analytical Sciences Group followed by a series of positions in the Product Development department. In 1995, Donna accepted a transfer to Memphis to work in the Kraft Packaging Business of the Containerboard and Kraft Division where she worked as a product manager, business development manager and sales manager for strategic accounts. Moving to Printing and Communications Paper in 1997, Donna assumed responsibility for product development and product line management prior to a progression of assignments within the brand marketing group  - Associate Brand Manager for Hammermill, Brand Manager for Great White, Global Brand Manager for  HP Everyday Papers and most recently Innovation Manager. Donna took early retirement from International Paper as of April 1, 2009 and resides with her husband Phillip in Cordova, TN. She can be reached at pjdjwenz@bellsouth.net.
